InteleNet owns and operates a state-of-the-art data center located
in Irvine, CA. This facility boasts fully redundant power with diesel
generators for backup, diverse paths and providers for Internet access,
and automated, reliable security services. This facility offers industry
leading physical environment control features and has plenty of scalable
space for our customers' growth needs. Our data center is a showcase
for the state-of-the-art in Internet services and data center capabilities.
Physical Security
InteleNet understands the critical nature of our clients' equipment.
We have designed a comprehensive access and security policy for protecting
all systems. These policies protect our clients from unnecessary downtime
because of sabotage, unauthorized personnel accessing equipment, or
unfortunate mishaps, such as tripping over wires and accidentally
bumping servers.
Key features of the InteleNet security system include:
•
Onsite security personnel 24x7x365
•
Onsite 24x7x365 Network Operations
Center, which monitors all external and internal security
•
Closed circuit television security
system throughout the data center
•
Combination access card and photo
identification system required to gain access to facility
•
Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for
each client to ensure only authorized personnel has physical
access to colocation space
Environmental Controls
InteleNet has deployed a flexible and redundant HVAC design that supports
the cooling load required. The HVAC system maintains optimum temperature
(68/F +/-2/F) and humidity levels. The air is also filtered continuously
for contaminants. InteleNet employs such strict standards to protect
our clients' equipment from excess wear and tear. This reduces the
amount of client resources needed for maintenance of overheated equipment,
server replacement/upgrade downtime, and equipment cleaning.
InteleNet uses the DataAire HVAC (High Volume Air Conditioning) equipment
to support the cooling load requirements. The air is circulated under
the 18" raised flooring and perforated tiles in specific patterns.
The air is then returned to the HVAC units through the filter panel
on top of the unit.
Power infrastructure
InteleNet offers a premier power system designed
to provide continuous, redundant, and protected power to our
clients. Built to N+1 redundancy, InteleNet employs proven power
features in our data centers. These features protect against
brownouts, blackouts, power spikes, and other electrical events.
Features of our power infrastructure include:
•
The dual uninterruptible power supply
(UPS) delivers clean, consistent power. Our UPS is comprised
of rectifiers, inverters, and batteries and is designed to maintain
constant power to all equipment in the data center, regardless
of power source. Through our dual UPS system, InteleNet can
deliver fully redundant power right into your servers.
•
The automatic transfer switch (ATS)
senses any significant interruption of regular power from the
electric company. Once an interruption is detected, the ATS
activates the onsite generator to feed power to the UPS. An
extensive amount of diesel fuel is stored onsite to fuel the
generator. Fueling contracts with local fuel companies ensure
that the power needs of the entire data center will be served
without interruption.
•
InteleNet takes power very seriously
and testing of the system is performed once every month. We
have experienced the brownouts and blackouts that have affected
southern California and we are proud to say that none of our
customers experienced any outages. InteleNet has designed our
systems to maintain power under current build-out specifications.
Power is operational at all times, providing clean power to
the facility. The data center design allows for additional UPS
units and generators as the facility expands to ensure the power
load can be maintained in the event of a power outage. Cut over
to the back-up generator is automatic and can run as long as
required
Fire Protection
InteleNet views fire protection as a three-step process: fire prevention,
fire detection, and fire suppression.
Fire Prevention
As part of the design of InteleNet's data centers, specific limitations
on amp usage and BTU output in each cabinet, cage and rack reduces
the risk of electrical fires in the data center. We also control the
flow of cooled air with the use of ventilated floor tiles to ensure
consistent temperatures throughout the data center. Prohibitions on
cardboard and other flammable materials are strictly enforced.
Fire Detection
InteleNet utilizes the industry leading Very Early Smoke Detection
Alarm (VESDA) system for the detection of smoke and fire. VESDA works
by continually drawing air into the system's pipe network via a highly
efficiency aspirator. A sample of the air is then passed through a
dual stage filtering system. From the filter, the sample goes to a
calibration detection chamber laser light source. When smoke is detected,
it communicates this information to a fire alarm control panel via
a software management system to the local data center and the InteleNet
Network Operations Center (NOC). We have installed this system so
that we can identify and address any situation that arises as quickly
as possible to reduce damage to the client's equipment.
Fire Suppression
The standard fire protection system for InteleNet is a dry pipe, double
interlock pre-action fire sprinkler system as defined by the National
Fire Protection Agency (NFPA). This type of system does not use toxic
gases or destructive dry chemicals, which are detrimental to our client's
equipment and people. Our fire suppression system works in conjunction
with the VESDA system in all of our data center facilities. Dry-Chem
fire extinguishers are also located throughout the facility.
